Severstal launches educational course on sustainability

Severstal has launched the education course on sustainability and ESG, which is aimed at all Severstal employees. The course will help to explore the current demands of society, business and investors regarding sustainability.

Today, the topic of sustainable development, decarbonization and social responsibility are trends that determine the future development of the world, business and our life. Severstal is committed to sustainability principles, systematically reduces the negative environmental footprint, energy consumption and natural resources use. We consistently implement ESG principles in the corporate culture, strategy, in all technological and management processes.

The launch of the ESG course reflects Severstal's plans to involve all employees in the sustainability agenda.

The new educational program introduces employees to key definitions, approaches, the company’s ESG programs and projects and is aimed at finding effective solutions to sustainability issues at various levels of management.

It includes four courses of different levels of complexity, starting with introductory and ending with expert courses aimed at employees who work daily with sustainability issues and Severstal’s top management . The courses for experts cover the topics of ESG risk management, ESG ratings and non-financial reporting.

The first course "Introduction to ESG" is already available for employees on the internal training platform.

The course on sustainable development will be included in the onboarding program for new employees. Also, in the future, it is planned to make individual modules of the course available to Severstal’s partners and suppliers in order to share the expertise accumulated in the company. The launch of the course is an important step towards engaging employees in the sustainability agenda.
